Is the equivalent to the Roman goddess Venus.
According to Aztec mythology is the goddess of beauty, flowers, love, pleasure and the arts. It related to the fertility of nature, Xochiquetzal, "precious flower", born from the hair of the mother goddess and since then she is forever young. Her twin brother is Xochipilli, with the same atributes but in the male part.

She lived with Tlaloc (god of rain), her first husband, and with many divine lovers at Tamoanchan or "Snake Hill", a paradise located in the first heaven. This mansion was full of delights and enjoyable pastimes. In the middle of the huge celestial forest there was a big flowering tree, which anyone that reached to grab one of its special flowers would be eternally happy and full of love.

El ave roja de Xochiquetzal
se deleita, se deleita sobre las flores.
Bebe la miel en diversas flores:
se deleita, se deleita sobre las flores.
